Content Management and Microservices: A Unifying Strategy for the Distributed Enterprise

Stanford University has invested heavily in Drupal since 2010, with increasing opportunities for innovation and collaboration across distributed teams thanks to Drupal’s open source licensing and the open community it engenders.  Now that Drupal is firmly established as an enterprise-grade CMS, we have begun to venture into microservices, a content strategy built on REST APIs with Drupal as the connective tissue that ties it all together and makes it easy for teams to connect with data from systems of record.

Research is big business.  A 2012 study estimated that companies formed by Stanford entrepreneurs generate world revenues of $2.7 trillion annually and have created 5.4 million jobs since the 1930s. Stanford alumni and faculty have created 39,900 companies since the 1930s, which, if gathered collectively into an independent nation, would constitute the world’s 10th largest economy.

Come find out how Stanford uses Drupal to provision its most challenging web projects.
